Michigan picked up their 14th verbal commitment of the 2017 recruiting class as highly touted Luiji Vilain pledged to join the ranks of the Wolverines.
The 6-4 240 pound weak side defensive end out of the Episcopal High School (Alexandria, VA) is ranked among the best in the country at his position and is a huge get for Head Coach Jim Harbaugh and his Big 10 program.
Vilain held over 30 scholarship offers and had narrowed his options to Michigan, Virginia Tech and USC.
He took an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech in March, but it was his unofficial visit to Ann Arbor in late May that sealed the deal for his commitment.
The Maroon finished 6-1-1 in Vilain’s junior season, losing only to Georgetown Prep of North Bethesda (MD). Their tie came in the season finale against Woodberry Forest.
Vilain is a native of Ottawa, Ontario and made his announcement on Sunday while at home in Canada.
