Family ties and Division I opportunity mix for Kevin Marks’ top choice

For Kevin Marks, showcases and camps were a regular thing. Off-season work was a grind. He has put in the hours. Several ACC caliber schools had their shot at him. Norview’s top offensive threat has committed to play his college ball at the University of Buffalo.
“Virginia Tech, UNC and NC State showed slight interest,” Marks commented. “I went up there earlier this year (for a visit). I kind of ran across the campus while visiting family when I was younger. How ironic, right? I also went up there a couple months ago in June.”
Marks had other offers, and according to him, JMU, Charlotte, Hampton, ODU, West Virginia and Marshall were in the running, “right up there until the end.”
“My dad lives up there and it’s a great academic school,” said Marks. “What they do fits my skill set, and the RB coach, offensive coordinator and head coach were all very honest with me.”
That’s Matt Simon, Andy Kotelnicki, and Lance Leipold. Leipold was in his first season of coaching the Bulls last year and led the team to a 5-. He left Division III powerhouse Wisconsin-Whitewater where he compiled an astounding 109- and won six Division III National Championships over his eight seasons.
Marks received the offer from Buffalo a little more than a month ago. He held scholarship offers from Buffalo, Charlotte and Hampton University.
