Benedictine Tight End Anthony Roberson changes plans

We say it every year. National Signing Day isn’t the only day you can sign. Benedictine tight end Anthony Roberson is proof of that.
Roberson is a full qualifier, but it was late and most colleges had already locked down their 2016 recruiting class. It’s rare for a Division I school to have an opening this late in the game.
The University of Central Florida offered Roberson back on May 10. His plan was to attend Fork Union Military Academy for a prep season and become a part of the 2017 recruiting class. There’s still a shot that he’ll be a member of the Class of 2016.
UCF now wants him to enroll this summer. It’s just a matter of them having room for him in their 2016 class. Roberson has verbally committed either way. He’ll either be the sixth player to verbally commit to the school as a part of next February’s signing class, or he’ll be the 22nd member of the 2016 class.
Rutgers, Marshall, Buffalo, UMass and Toledo had shown interest in Roberson, but UCF has aggressively pursued him and landed his commitment.
The 6-5 225 tight end will be especially useful in Central Florida’s new offensive scheme under Coach Scott Frost. The scheme resembles Oregon’s fast-paced spread, and that really appeals to Roberson.
